Servant x Service: Season One Wrap Up

“LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”

The first season of Servant x Service has come to a close, and I’m saddened to see it go. Right at the story gets to an emotional high point, the season ends. the last episode ties up the main arc (of what’s been introduced so far), so it makes me wonder what the seconds season is going to have in store for us,

I’ll try to avoid big spoilers. Hasabe feels like he’s partly responsible for Lucy’s…issue, and the way they tie that up is incredibly cute. This series has me wanting more at the end of every episode. The first few episodes are kind of slow, but it keeps building momentum until the season finale, which totally leaves you hanging.

If you haven’t watched this yet, or maybe even heard of it, you seriously need to check it out. It should definitely be on your must watch list. Granted, it is a slice of life show, so there aren’t really fight scenes, or any violence, but it keeps you wanting more.

Servant x Service Ep 6 – Review

Image

This weeks episode of Servant x Service has alot heard from a talking bunny and an old woman trying to marry off her grandson.

Kenzo, the office boss who speaks through a talking bunny, wonders why he isn’t so popular with the newcomers and he thinks something is missing. After talking with Taishi he figures following around each new employee would be a good idea. As he follow each employee isn’t seen a creepy than helpful. So, Kenzo still searches for what he is missing.

During Kenzo’s round you see Miyoshi’s usual old woman talking about he issues. This time the old woman says that Miyoshi should marry her grandson. This is a conflict to her. She thinks that marriage might be her answer to what she is actually searching for, returning to graduate school. If she became a house wife she could go back to school. She see how stupid that plan is and declines to the old woman NICELY next time she comes in.

Kenoz also finally founds what he has been missing… his tail! You get to meet his daughter (who is human) come in and give the tail to her father. His daughter is also Toko’s friend and she has been trying to keep Toko away from the office so she doesn’t see her father’s bunny form.

The episode had some interestingly funny character development. You actually got to see that Kenzo doesn’t have a family of bunnies back home and that Miyoshi isn’t as soft spoken.

CATCH-UP Joint Reviews: Servant X Service – Ep 4&5 Silver Spoon Ep 3&4

tumblr_mr337e4Dm51qeoygio1_500

Episode 4 of SxS might as well be called the Hasabe and Lucy shipping episode. Chihaya declares herself Hasabe’s rival, and keeps warning Lucy to be on the look out for his real intentions. As the day goes on, the group meets the section leader, who comes to work as a remote control rabbit. After being chastised by everyone, he suggests they all go out drinking together. The episode ends with Lucy being drunk, and Hasabe taking her home. Where this will take us, nobody knows.

Episode 5 starts off with Lucy waking up in a house, and a girl sleeping next to her. The girl wakes up and says she is Hasabe and not to tell anybody at the office about being female. BUT IT’S A JOKE… seriously our jaws dropped though. The REAL Hasabe walks in and you find out the girl was Hasabe’s older sister. She is also shipping Hasabe and Lucy 😉 You also have another jaw dropping moment when Chihaya admits she is Taishi’s girlfriend, but it’s laugh off by everyone in the office. But really … Chihaya and Taishi are dating. You see their relationship outside the office hiding that they are dating even in front of Toko. It will be fun when that unravels in front of the office

Now getting back to Harvest Moo….I mean….Silver Spoon. First, we learn about pigs. Then about Ban’ei races. Hachiken still has the feels for Ali, and tensions get a little hot with Ichirou. Also! You meet some of Ali’s family, learn a little about being a vet, and learn some more about Ichirou. That’s about where episode 3 ends.

Episode 4 starts out with Hachiken getting the top test results in his class. He then proceeds to find a brick oven, and gets everybody in the mood for fresh pizza, something they’ve apparently gone without their entire lives. He then goes about collecting the ingredients, a journey that has several humorous twists. He ends up needing the help of a lot of people, so he has to make a lot of pizzas. Of course, it all ends well, and the pizza is delicious. Even the teachers love it.

Servant x Service Ep 3 – Review

So, we were right… Servant x Service is going to be about boobs. Lucy’s boobs, specifically. This episode has some building connections, although not much else happens.

Hasebe is the overly flirtatious male in the office, always getting girls emails; even though he never uses them. Then he realizes he never got Lucy’s email, so he starts asking her out to dinner and tries to get closer to her. Surprisingly enough, he never gets her email because he forgets to ask, every time. Potential shipping? In the end Lucy tells Hasebe her breast size to pay him back for his recent kindness, and as she walks away, he realizes he forgot to ask for her email again.

Servant X Service Ep 2- Review

Image

Now, having not watched many “slice of life” anime, we are trying to get use to the fact that there won’t be an overall arcing story, the show is seriously about them working as civil servants. Since the show doesn’t have really any plot arcs, it really has to focus on the interactions of the characters and their back stories.

Something I find really funny and interesting in this episode was the interaction between Megumi and Lucy. Megumi starts asked Lucy why she wears so much black and that dressing more professionally will look better. This leads into anfunny conversation about Lucy’s breasts and how she would look perfect as a character from an anime that Megumi also cosplays from. Yes, Megumi… quiet, gentle, Megumi…cosplays. This is an interesting find, because we never saw it coming, but throughout the show it becomes more apparent as she tries to recruit people to cosplay. HOPEFULLY we will see more of that later on.

Also, in this episode, you meet Toko, Taishi’s younger sister. She is a high school girl that comes by the office to make sure everyone is doing their job, and that they are well educated civil servants. She is seen as an annoying brat, but, once you find out that she is there to learn everything her brother knows cause she loves him and is afraid to lose him, you understand her and her brother’s character. And young Toko IS SOOO FREAKING CUTE!!!

Overall the show is great! It’s a really fun watch, and we’re interested in where the characters are headed!

Servant x Service ep 1- Review

Image

Servant x Service is a new “slice of life” show in the 2013 Summer Anime line up. Created by Karino Takatsu, Servant x Service is compared to his previous show and manga “Working!”. Being our first show in this genre, we were both presently surprised that we really enjoyed the show!.

The show starts off with three new employees (Lucy Yamagami, Yutaka Hasebe, and  Saya Miyoshi) starting first day at a Civil Service office. They are assigned to their jobs were you are introduce to other characters around the office. There is not a real sign of an overall story arc except the characters back stories, potential ships, and Lucy’s “revenge” on past Civil Service worker, the one who let her parents name her Lucy Kimiko Akie Airi Shiori Rinne Yoshiho Ayano Tomika Chitose Sanae … Yamagami.

The anime also offered so much visually with the art and style of the anime. The voice acting was cute, and definitely wasn’t to the point of annoying. The characters were introduced well and we are looking forward to seeing how even the minor character’s stories develop. Also did anyone else compare this show to “The Office”?  Overall the show is a humorous quirky breath of fresh air, and we are looking forward to talking more in-depth about the show as the series continues this season.

Oh my… guys. That intro…
